I just had to write a review about my JET 12-inch drill press. This machine is a real winner. It’s built tough, looks good, and the motor runs like a champ. It’s got the perfect size and power for my workshop needs. The drill chuck itself seems true, but the key socket is a bit wobbly. I’m planning to upgrade to a keyless Jacobs chuck for better grip.

The only real issue I had was a rattling noise coming from the spindle at certain speeds. It seemed like the connection between the spindle and the drive wasn’t quite tight enough. A quick fix with some grease took care of most of the noise and made everything feel smoother. It’s a little surprising that JET’s quality control missed this, but hey, at least it was an easy fix. I also greased up a few other spots and adjusted the spring tension to my liking.

Overall, I’m super happy with my JET drill press. Especially compared to that other clunker I tried – that one got returned faster than you can say “spindle runout.” If you’re looking for a reliable benchtop drill press, this JET model is definitely worth considering. Read more…
