How to Tap a Hole Using Micro-Mark #83146 Tapping Fixture

Posted by – August 8, 2010

Click here to see price: www.micromark.com Accurate Tapping Made Easy Our Tapping Fixture holds taps perfectly square to the base so threads are cut straight every time. The smooth turning spindle and large knob provide the ‘feel’ of hand tapping needed to minimize breakage, and the cast iron base assures stability for extra control. Precision chuck holds taps with shanks 1/32 inch to 1/4 inch diameter. Clearance under chuck: adjustable up to 5-1/2 inches. Distance from center of chuck to front of column: 4-3/4 inches. Base includes 5/16 inch T-slots for mounting vises (see #82546 Quick-Jaw Vise, sold separately) and clamps. Tapping fixture can also be used for hand-powered drilling and reaming, and is the perfect drill press for plastic.

2″ hole through 3/4″ Steel – Chip Issue!

Posted by – July 25, 2010

A two inch drilled hole process through 3/4″ steel. The AutoDrill 5100 series unit strokes down quickly, takes a nice controlled cut through the plate, then retracts back and ejects the “plug” created by the annular cutter. The annular cutter is simply a fancy hole saw for this type of process. We tried the “non-fancy” way of manually pecking to break the chip. As you can see, it didn’t work to well. AutoDrill *does* offer automatic peck cycles as well as PLC controllable drills with proximity sensors for a much better way of performing this process. However, chip issues may still exist depending on the product being drilled, the size of the hole cutter, etc. Please contact AutoDrill with any questions or for a quotation. 01.908.542.0244 800-871-5022 www.Drill-N-Tap.com http www.AutoDrill.com http www.Drilling-Heads.com http www.Drill-Unit.com http MultiDrill-Heads.com www.MultiSpindle-Drill-Heads.com http Production-Tapping-Equipment.com drill head multi drill press attachment multi drill dual drill automatic drill
