WEN 4214T Drill Press Review

I picked up the WEN 4214T drill press for my home woodworking shop, and let me tell you, it’s been a real workhorse! It was a breeze to put together, and everything feels nice and sturdy.

Some folks online mentioned wonky chucks, but I guess I lucked out because mine seems pretty spot-on. I can drill perfectly centered holes every time, no problem. Eventually, I might add a bigger worktable, but for now, this one’s doing just fine.

Now, there are a couple of things I’d tweak if I could. First, a little more power wouldn’t hurt. The only time it grumbled was when I tried drilling a huge hole in some super-hard wood with a big Forstner bit. But hey, even then, it took it slow and steady and got the job done. The other minor nitpick is the speed control lever – it’s a bit stiff. But it works well, and once you set it, the speed stays put.

Overall, I’m really happy with this drill press. It’s perfect for my workshop needs, and it gets the job done well. Definitely a thumbs-up from this happy hobbyist! Read more…
