HHO Torch Construction tips: tapping for the mig tip
I was very impressed with D3 and Rain4fuel’s HHO torches, so I decided to build one for myself. In so doing I thought I would share this tip I was shown a long time ago. Using a drill press to tap small parts or just about anything else will increase your accuracy and keep your work looking professional. It won’t hang to one side or be skewed as it can be when using a tap wrench. Also I find that using a tap wrench is much more difficult than this method. I can never seem to get the thing tight enough to keep the tap from slipping out on me and I am a fumble bum to the n-th degree, I’ll drop the tap wrench 2 or 3 times during the process. Also in order to use a tap wrench to tap something this small you would have to put it in a vice or use a box end wrench to hold the fitting anyway. I hope you all find this useful, I know the old timer that showed it to me, he’s been dead many a year now, I have remembered every time I use it.
